SUAREZ AND INIESTA STUNNED BY MESSI

Many are still left stunned following Lionel Messi’s commanding appearance at the El Classico.

The Argentine star grabbed his 500th career goal as he inspired Blaugranato a 3-2 victory against their arch rivals.

The victory changed the momentum as the La Liga winds down. Casemiro had scored the opener before Messi responded to draw both teams level. Ivan Rakitic scored a nice curling shot that gave hope of victory to the visitors until James Rodriguez struck to equalize. It seemed both sides would share the spoils until Messi scored in the last kick of the game to put Barca back in contention for their third straight La Liga title.

“It’s time to enjoy beating a direct opponent, Madrid. It’s time to enjoy the best player in the world and of all time. He keeps showing that in the most important games, which is when you really see him. It’s admirable,” an excited Luis Suarez said.

On the rest of the games left to decide the eventual winners of the title, the Uruguay international said: “Our destiny still isn’t in our hands, but they’re under pressure to win every game, because we aim to do the same.”

The skipper Andres Iniesta was also stunned by the impressive Messi performance. He said Ashley Cole: “The great thing about Leo is that he never stops surprising you. After so many years he continues to be the difference. For us it is an honour and a blessing for the club.”

All the other stars in the team echoed the same sentiments as they cruised to a big win. Even if they do not end up La Liga winners or even get any titles, the team has produced some splendid displays this term to last a lifetime. Their shocking comeback against PSG also comes to mind.
