According to a report by Spanish publication SPORT, Barcelona and Ivan de la Pena ended their recent meeting with the confidence that the two parties are closer to agreeing to terms over a bumper new contract for Gavi. Former Barcelona midfielder Andres Iniesta has somewhat confirmed that he could be returning to the Camp Nou in what came as a rather shocking and interesting development. The former Spain international midfielder was a midfield maestro during his playing days for the Blaugrana and bossed the midfield alongside hie former teammate at club and national team level, Xavi Hernández. However, all good things do come do an end and the two players, with tears in their eyes, announced their departures from the club they spent all of their playing careers playing for.

However, while Xavi went straight into retirement after leaving Barcelona, Iniesta did not do the same. He instead continued playing and signed for Japanese League side Vissel Kobe where he continued to show that age is only a number and that class is permanent. He became one of the best players not only at the club but also in the league overall as he continued to score goals and register assists as well. Xavi, on the other hand, was appointed as manager by a club in Saudi Arabia where he began his career in club management.

There is an agenda that is currently going viral that Paris Saint-Germain manager Mauricio Pochettino is the next and right man for the Manchester United managerial job. The rumors linking Pochettino to the Old Trafford job have been around for quite some time now and it does not look like they will be dying down anytime soon. Even before the appointment of Olé Gunnar Solksjaer as the club’s boss back in the summer transfer window of 2018, Argentine manager Pochettino was mentioned as one of the potential candidates who could be taking up the reigns at the club.

But he was not appointed by the Red Devils chiefs as he was still a Tottenham Hotspur manager at the time. Solksjaer managed United for more than three years but was not able to win any trophy for the club and only came close in last season’s UEFA Europe League campaign as he guided the Red Devils to the final of the competition but a loss to Spanish La Liga club Villarreal on penalties meant that he would be ending his reign as United manager without a single trophy to his name.

While they’ve conquered the French League a couple of times in the past, they’ve had to struggle in Europe and have kept being knocked out by teams who have been better than them. Two seasons ago, they came very close by reaching the final of the competition but despite how hard they tried, they eventually lost the match to German Bundesliga giants Bayern Munich who were eventually crowned the Champions of Europe in that season.
